Made some progress on the upgrade shop


I have started working on the in-game store for upgrades, most of the work so far has been on the internal structures to make the upgrades work, but I do have a prototype of the UI for the shop.

I am intending for the player to be able to purchase various upgrades, such as:

  • Increased speed retention and bounce height
  • Each of the enemy types will be purchased initially with further purchases increasing the density
  • Increase to the force with which the player is initially flung and improvements to the snowman to make it easier to get a good angle
  • I have some ideas around upgrades to the stomp mechanic, such as better cooldown time

I also spent some time on further improvements to the player physics and the way in which player speed and bounce height interacts with the different enemy type, as previously it was a little obtuse and difficult to determine the actual affect of changes to the parameters, this has been improved and it is now much easier to set the parameters for each enemy time as well as globally for the player, this should make it easier to provide consistent, meaningful and appropriately priced upgrades in the upgrade shop.

I have not updated the game on itch.io just yet, as I would like to improve the upgrade store UI and have a couple of the initial upgrades available.
