Pivoted on my player character design
I had originally hoped to have a snowman as the player character, it became apparent that this would be difficult due to the need for animations, and my lack of artistic ability.
I tried chopping the snowman from the tileset I am using into sections and animating using bones in Unity, whilst I learned a lot from this process, it did not produce the outcome I was looking for, partly due to the shape of the snowman being quite vertical in nature, whereas I need the shape to be more rounded.
I fired up Burrito Bison and looked at their animation style for the main character, I noticed that while it appeared simple, the main character has quite a lot of different animations, which added a lot of character to the game.
I went back to opengameart.org and found a yeti character with some animation frames that will suit the actions that the player will be performing in my game, the pixel art style does not match 100% with the art style that I have used so far, but I should be able to turn everything into pixel art by just decreasing the resolution, right?
My game should probably now be called 'Yeeting Yeti', but instead of changing the title I will learn from the experience and move on, perhaps next time I will try to work with a graphics artist.
